I have developed a RP-HPLC method to separate a mixture aryle compounds (mixture of iodonium and phsphonium aryl salts plus aryl phsphine) with the aid of a C18 Column, 100 Å, 3.5 μm, 2.1 mm X 30 mm. It was very effective (the Rs between the closest peaks is 2.6) using gradient elution in which two solvents were utilized to establish the mobile phase composition (acetonitrile/ammonium formate buffer) at flow rate 1 mL/min for either 5 or 5.5 minutes, plus 0.5 minutes or 1.0 minute as post time.

My question is: Can I separate the same mixture using a bigger column (for example column with the following features: C18 Column, 100 Å, 2.6 μm, 4.6 mm X 150 mm)?

Is it expected that the separation time will be significantly increased??

Thanks in advance to all responses
