I need to do some collection of DOC from groundwater. The aim is to collect these in the field using cartridges for molecular characterisation using FTICR-MS.
Are there any cartridges capable capturing a representative sample from the field?
Historically, my department has used PPL cartridges but these fail to capture the polysaccharides.

We recently used RP cartridges from Supelco (no publicity intended) to extract some oligosaccharides from aqueous matrices. The name of such cartridges is
Supelclean ENVI-Carb. In the tests we did with the ones with highest mass of adsorbent, and with low ppb/high ppt of the compounds, they could be loaded with 250 mL of sample.

A couple of questions:
What percentage recovery did you get on these cartridges?
Were you able to capture the polysaccharides?
We were only tracking disaccharides, trisaccharides and tetrasaccharides, thus we didn't check for carbohydrates with more units..... sorry.
In a total of 14 compounds, we had recoveries ranging from about 80% to 105%.
