Hi everybody!

As written in the title I have a doubt about the distance between BC and rotating region when simulating a pump through 3D numerical simulations using Fluent.

I have pipes connecting the rotating region with inlet and outlet faces where BC are specified. What is the minimum pipe length needed in order to be able to specify inlet and outlet BC?

I have always believed that the length of the pipe should be a minimum of 10 times the pump's eye diameter. However, I have just read an article where they set this parameter to 4 and now I am very confused. As I am modelling a 3D geometry, shortening the cylindrical pipe would bring to a huge reduction of cells count.

Could you please give me some advice? Thanks in advance
