How is it possible that some people on RG manage to recommend some 20 articles in about 20 minutes? Shouldn' t one read the text before recommending it?
Hi! Good question, I have wondered myself, as I have a couple of times been blessed(?)/ attacked(?) with that kind of serial recommendations, also for texts in Swedish, which people from random countries usually don’t master. I have mailed them and asked what they exactly are interested in and if I can help them - no reply.
I think a fast-multi-recommender wants the recommended author to recommend back in the same manner, to increase RG score. An invitation To cooperate in RG scoring. I wont do that, since I have friends and followers and only want to recommend what I think is really interesting or valuable and in connection with my own field of expertise.
Yes, I agree with @Anders...people from different countries recommending my research in Croatian...I just hope they haven't used Google translate to read it!
I try to only recommend what I find it interesting and only after to reading it. I think we should be fair when we make a recommndation of a reading, a post, a proverb, and so forth.
personally I experienced in some questions that there are some (looks like students) immediately push recommendatio for some researchers with high RG values. (And particular person follows the researcher and add recommendations despite the content of the answer).
i thought sometime they want becoming friendly or looking for next step education entry opportunities etc.).
However, there are many cases recommendations reflect the quality of the content.
anyway all the time I follow the scientific commonsens than recommendations.
Please see this question and highest rated answer. you may feel there is no value in RG recommendations. So, similarly RG score values makes less meaningful if things happen like this.
Agreed logically and ideally. Because recommendation means endorsement of the research by the scholars to promote such areas of study. But sometimes, some titles of the research may also be recommended based on their significance. So I believe that it is not necessary to go through the entire article before its recommendation.
Even if it is in a foreign languege which is highly unlikely one understands? I go a recomendation from Iraq on article in Croatian! I keep wondering how is it possible...
May be the researcher used google translate or knows foreign language... anw you can always send a private msg to this specific researcher asking for an explanation...
I compeltely agree with you Erik Cuevas. I even think people recommend in order to get the same for the authors thay recommened... not very scientific, I am afraid
I am not particularly interested in the quantity of recommendations, but I would like to know who recommended my text. Is it possible for me to see who recommended my text?
Sometimes it comes to my head that some recommendations are less a function of what is said and more a function of whom says it. And this is a shame.
Dear Mario, I think that we are all interested, however minimal it may, in getting recommendations. You can see in your RG profile those who recommend or cite your work.
