I am trying to find the material properties of this 500 year old piece of waterlogged timber.
I have set it up in the lab for a deflection test under its own self weight.
The aim is to model this experiment in ansys, so that through trial and error, the material properties can be altered until the deflection matches the experimental results.
It will be set up in the lab for approx 6 weeks.
How do i model this for time in ANSYS?
You need to perform a design of experiments in ANSYS. Then the results obtained in ANSYS based on the design of experiments will help you to obtain a surface response based on the parameters/variables that you selected (E,G, poisson ratio, length and thickess). Finally with the surface response obtained in ANSYS you can compare deflections or stresses vs experimental results. Good Luck
