I am currently in the process of deciding on a research question (and an according method/research design) for my master thesis in the named field. So far, I have not been able to find an open research question (relevant and prevailing) that would be adequate for the scope of a master thesis (no capacity to collect data myself). I would be very thankful for recommendations on current questions in this field that might be suitable, thank you in advance!
You could investigate the cost-effectiveness of a particular screening intervention in a particular country. Many screening interventions have been reported as cost-effective in high income countries, but it is not clear whether they are also cost-effective in low-resource settings. Evidence on cost-effectiveness can be very helpful in decision-making about screening programs. Depending on the screening program and the context, the data that you need to conduct this evaluation might be already available from the program.
You could investigate out-of-pocket health expenditure and its relation with patients' adherence to medical prescriptions or something related.
You could investigate the impact on health outcome (e.i. life expectancy or infant mortality rate) of the same amount of money spent on a health program respectively in a developing country and in a OECD country.
