I have one query regarding Rare earth doped BFO thin films ferroelectric lops?
We have fabricated a device based in which the intrinsic layer is doped:BFO thin films with different top and bottom electrodes.
While measuring the P-E loops , It shows only rounded shape loops?
Is there any specific reason why doped : BFO thin film shows very leaky and unsaturated loops.
So many referee reported after doping P-E loop would enhance the ferroelectric properties but in my case even i did not get an exact loop .

If the cause of the observed effect does not lie in the deep nature of the phenomenon, then one of the explanations can be the following. The type of hysteresis loop may depend on the measurement method used (quasi-static, in a harmonic field (continuous or pulsed)), on the frequency and amplitude of the electric field.
You may not get a complete loop either because the field strength is not high enough (a small value of the electric voltage or too thick a sample), or because the frequency of the affected field is too high (when the repolarization processes do not keep up with its change). Minor hysteresis loops look rounded (oval) or lentil-shaped.
It is also possible that the effects indicated in the above article are superimposed by the considerations I have expressed. Also, the shape of your sample should be considered. The field strength value acting on the sample may be less than the applied value under the influence of the depolarizing field (it depends on the direction of the applied field with respect to the sample geometry).
Agree with Alexander T. Morchenko's discussion. These are also common issues during the experiment. But, what about your substrate? As the type of substrate affects the growth of domain and direction of applied electric field could be opposite to intrinsic domain direction which even at the higher applied field cannot generate a uniform hysteresis. also, the quality of the film is particularly important, especially when fabricated through sol-gel. Sometimes we fabricate film according to literature, but the quality is far from that.
What kind of glass substrate? can you give more details about the glass substrate?
Lattice mismatch of substrate affects too much the ferroelectric studies. And usually, Pr or Ps values are smaller or even leaky hysteresis loops like open mouth shape obtain. Therefore, try some other substrates if your prepared material is highly crystalline and no secondary phase observed in XRD.
