Hi all.

I am a bit doubtful about the value of the reference area (in ANSYS fluent), I have calculated in order to match the literature's Co-efficient of Drag.!

I have attached the screenshot of the 2-D diagram (from Ansys Design) for reference.

I am working on the unsteady-compressible flow analysis of a 2-D blunt body, the dimensions were taken from one of the literature.

I have assumed the following, Please correct me if I am wrong.

-The oncoming air is impacting the front end of the blunt-body (arrows in the image represents the air impacting on the curved surface )

- The surface, where the air is getting in contact with the body resembles a half-circle, ( I feel its the circumference where the air is impacting ). Hence, I have calculated the half of-circumference of the circle; that is equal to 0.32185 mt

- Multiplying 0.32185 mt with the depth of 1 mt is gives me 0.32185 mt, which I am entering as a reference area in the fluent during the analysis

- This value is giving me the co-efficient of drag = 0.84, nearer to the literature, which is around 0.81. ( a bit more I must say)

I have also attached the screenshot of fluent showing the drag value for the above reference area and a screenshot of the drag value from the paper.

Please advise me regarding this.

Thanks in advance.
