Hello everyone!

This is, probably, a common question but I would like to know what do you think about which BD Vaccutainer tube to use: yellow top (with serum separator gel) or red top (with clotting agent and no gel) if I want to obtain serum from a whole blood sample which will be used in immunochemical tests (such as serum interleucin detection).

This comes as I recently read a publication (Standard Operating Procedures for Serum and Plasma Collection: Early Detection Research Network Consensus Statement Standard Operating Procedure Integration Working Group) in which it is specified that serum samples shall be collected from red-top tubes instead of the SST ones.

Shall it be of help, I herein attach the links to the publication and supp. information.
