I'm looking for the best method to identify seizure activity in EEG recordings from healthy elderly participants. Any recommendations for signal pre-processing and abnormal activity search?
Dear Gabriel! Please carefully read the scientific articles in the appendix. Then a lot in understanding the seizure brain activity (and non-convulsive) becomes clearer. Vladimir
You need simply a clean EEG recording. Afterwards, there are lots of software tools. But I'm a little bit hesitant: (1) occasional epileptiform discharges can be found in a lot of conditions, i.e. migraine; (2) has been found in otherwise healthy persons applying for pilots license in the US. They were refused to fly, nevertheless, they were followed, and seizures were documented in about half of the patients. In the other half, there was usually a better interpretation. In my opinion, qEEG will show you some focal activity where you have to sort out what is task-related. (being examined may also be a task, rarely mentioned.) What exactly do you look for in healthy persons?
