Does anyone have experience with storage of recombinant abeta 1-40 peptides? I have them in ammonium acetate after size-exclusion chromatography, ~150 uM. Is it okay to freeze it with liquid nitrogen and store them in -80 C? I use them for experiments pretty fast usually within 2 weeks but still don't want to take any chances. Thank you.
(PS: I want to avoid glycerol in my system, and I think it is okay to not add because abeta 1-40 is unstructured itself)

Hi, lyophilize away the ammonium acetate and store a high concentration stock solution of the peptide in 100% DMSO at either +4oC, -20oC or -80oC, it doesn't matter.
Dissolving it to concentration at or below ~1% DMSO in aqueous buffers should make fibrils. You can follow it by ThT fluorescence.
Since it is an unstructured protein, It won't affect the structure if it is frozen in liquid nitrogen.It can be lyophilized in ammonium acetate and stored. I too work with amyloid Beta 1-42. It works fine by utilizing this storage method. It can be stored at 4 , -20 or -80 degree celsius .
