Since the intensive research of Joan N. Vickers we know a lot about the Quiet Eye and its effectiveness of this kind of preshot routine. (compare image Werferin)

My question concerns the relevance of the quiet eye phase within the game.

The time-ressources are limited and many coaches tend to train a more fluid throw, that means to start the fluid movement alredy with the full hub respectively the full travel of the ball from the level of the hipps to the upper position over the head lifted by the hands. (compare image: Werfer)

Of course quiet eye is surely making sense during a free throw, but within the game I am doubting a lot if a transfer is still possible.

What are your methods? Let me know your thoughts about this subject.
