, the authors write "Statistically significant improvement was observed in serum testosterone in Group A when compared with Group B." The improvement in Group A was 4.667ng/dl, and for Group B 6 ng/dl. How could the improvement in group A be more significant than that in group B, when Group B has a higher improvement? The improvement in Group A was significant from baseline, but compared to Group B, I don't see how it could be significant? Could someone please explain what is meant?Thank you,

If group A had a smaller amount of score variation, then the standardized difference (e.g., [M1 - M2] / SDpooled) could be larger even though the sheer difference in means was smaller.
If the individual group statistics were given, you could easily check this. Otherwise, as Dr. Booth indicates, you could always contact author(s).

The significance level has determined using a statistical calculation ( t-test), by comparing both data of befor and after treatments, this difference you can't determine by finding the difference between two means because there is an overlap in group B values that you can't see it but you can conclude that overlap via checking the SD. In group, B SD is higher than group A means more overlap in B group data, this makes the difference meaningless even the whole difference is 6.
