We have seen plastic imports like catheters from China that are toxic to patients. We have seen major legal court cases related to hernia mesh, trans vaginal mesh. Threats from polyester urethane foam used in CPAC machines that have caused major harm. All these issues could have been avoided and prevented by having Material Scientist and Polymer Chemist input on the design of these products.

There may not be an immediate answer because there are to many second and third party interventions into the system. However, a solution to these problems always takes legal action when the damage has been done. So, why have we continued to promote mediocrity within the Medical Plastics industry and how can this be corrected?
