Hi everyone,

My cols and I got the QIAamp Fast DNA Stool Mini Kit in order to get DNA from sea lion scats to analyze the diet of these animals. However, a colleague warned not using this "Fast" version of the kit as they good poor results when analyzing whale scats; according to her, the "old" version of the kit (QIAamp DNA Stool Mini Kit, not the "Fast" version ), which has the InibitEX in a tablet form, should be used instead. Unfortunately, only the Fast version was available now, as Qiagen is not manufacturing anymore the InhibitEX tablets and the "not Fast" presentation o the Stool Mini Kit.

Then, I would like to. ask you please if you have had any experience using the Qiagen Fast DNA Stool Mini Kit (the "Fast" version which is being sold now), mainly I would like to know if this kit is working well for you, especially in metagenomic research.

Any tip regarding the use of this kit is more than welcome!

Thanks a lot!
