Was in a lab for 4 years, published a few co-authorships.
Had a falling out with the PI, joined a new lab and finished my PhD 2 years later.
While I transitioned to the new lab, my old PI published a paper I was supposed to be on.
(we tested 3 drugs in mice. Two drugs for paper #1, one drug for paper #2. I'm on paper #1, not paper #2. I'm the only author missing on paper #2).
I talked to the University Ethics Officer and she informed me there was nothing I could do: the university considered it a publisher issue, while the publisher considers it a university issue.
I'm now about 5 years removed and applying for jobs again.
Do I put paper #2 on my CV with an explanation?

Dear Sir, I feel it will be wise decision to not to include the same in cv as inclusion may increase complexity. I have same experience when one of my co-author was excluded due to negligence of an eminent publisher. They never accepted the mistake and corrected it. Sorry for the same incident, but it is quite common in the life of a researcher.
I don't think it's a publisher issue. Neither is it a university issue.
I think the principal investigator who submitted the manuscript considered your contribution to be insignificant and reached a decision to exclude you from the paper. But you made a good case here though. If this issue is reported to the committee of publishing ethics (COPE), it think they will ask the publisher to retract the paper.
Notwithstanding, you should not include that paper in your CV. It will add no value to your job prospects if the recruiters do an online search and don't find your name on the paper. In fact, adding the paper to your CV may hurt your initial reputation in front of the interview panel whether or not the panel is convinced by your explanation. They wouldn't want to hire someone that has some unresolved publishing problem(s). I'll advice you to exclude that paper from your CV.
