According to a report by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) published in 2023, only 18% of SDG targets will be met by 2030. Should we expect a new global agenda?
This is quiet mind boggling and should not be talked about with a high sense of glee. Generally, this shocking revelation indicates significant challenges in achieving the set goals within the stipulated time-frame. However, I believe that the prospect of a new global agenda depends on a complex interplay of factors, including the assessment of current progress, emerging global challenges, political will, and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances. Policymakers and international organizations may consider the need for a refreshed approach to ensure that global goals remain relevant and effective in addressing the world's most pressing issues.
