Protocol for macrophage lysis w/o membrane extraction?

Following uptake experiments, we want to lyse macrophages without extracting the plasma membrane. Liquid nitrogen treatment with hypotonic buffer would appear to be a suitable method - does anyone have a detailed protocol for efficient lysis?
