We are looking for AAO filtration membranes with pore diameters 250-400 nm (membrane thickness 5-25 um). But none of the commercial suppliers provide these specs. Are these specifications difficult to meet for this material type?
We are glad to here that you are working on similar work. I am sure the Anodic Aluminum Oxide (AAO) related research tools can play a good role for your research. Please take a look at the ultrathin AAO template which can be conveniently transferred to any substrate. We believe the highly uniform and high porosity membrane materials can be well integrated into your research. If you have any colleagues who are also interested with this, please feel free to let them know.
• Sensors (specialized in SERS, surface plasma and etc)
• Ultrapure filtration
• Cell/bacteria analysis (excellent for fluorescent study)
• High surface area electrodes for batteries
• Support for other nanomateris, like graphene

1. Ultrathin AAO template: a controllable solution for nanomaterials
Ultrathin anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) templates are popular for fabricating large-scale ordered arrays of nanostructures (e.g., nanodots and nanoholes) on the surface of substrates (e.g. Si, sapphire, silica, ITO, FTO, etc). However, because of the small thickness (usually less than 1μm), it is of a great challenge to transfer AAO template onto substrate. Here, we have developed a facile and low cost method to allow transferring ultrathin AAO template onto any substrate in a timely manner, which can significantly improve research efficiency.
Features:
u Narrow pore size distribution, highly ordered arrangement;
u Ultrahigh pore density (108-1010 cm-2);
u Large pattern area (>1 cm2), high throughput;
u Easy to handle, cut and transfer to arbitrary substrate;
u Transparent, isolated;
u Low costs.
2.Isotropic AAO template
Isotropic AAO templates, often referring to thicker AAO to be different from ultrathin AAO membrane, are widely used for a number of different fields. Topmembranes technology is specialized to make high quality isotropic AAO templates, with uniform pore structure across the entire thickness and on both faces of the membrane. The pores are arranged hexagonally within the single domain. The translucent nature of AAO is appealing to applications in biomedical field.
3. AAO on Al substrate
AAO on Al substrate is grown on and inherently adheres to the surface of Al. At the end of the pore, there is a half-sphere shape barrier oxide layer in contact with aluminum. AAO film on Al are a convenient low-cost alternative to free-standing AAO wafers or membranes for many applications in nanofabrication, such as templated growth of uniform arrays of nanowires and nanotubes.
