Targeted drugs delivery system can deliver the chemotherapy to the precise site of the disease, thereby increasing the therapeutic efficiency of the drugs and also decreasing the toxicity. Receptor-based targeting is a well accepted and practiced approach for drug delivery in cancer breast treatment. Nanotechnology-based approach is another emerging field in the management of cancer breast. This delivery has been proven to promise high loading capacity, less toxicity, and stability of the drugs compared to traditional chemotherapeutic drugs.

But at present clinical applications are still limited. Evidences are emerging.

Targeted drug delivery techniques are of great interest for safer and more effective pharmaceutical therapies. The targetted delivery system reduces un-wanted drug side effects. This approach improves drug efficacy and safety. There are different methods of targetted delivery system. Drug carriers can be synthesized from different types of materials including polymer nanoparticles, inorganic nanoparticles, and polymer/inorganic nanocomposites with different morphologies.

Targeting could be molecular targeting based on the cancer pathogenesis, or through different methods of targeted delivery. Drugs can even be tailored for each case.

It is a very open question.
