Dear Colleague - yes, it is possible to use ECD for S-containing compounds. Please see this 1979 article in Journal of Chromatography. It all depends on the sensitivity.

Flame photometric detector (FPD) and pulsed flame photometric detector (PFPD) work very well for sulfur (and phosphor) organic compounds separated on a GC.
In the past (Lovelock 1974) SF6 was used as the standard molecules to check the detector responses, including ECD. So ECD is sensitive to sulphur, but other detectors, such as FPD, are more selective (and on the consequence more sensitive)
