Typha/cat tails species and Phragmites are quite suitable- on counts of higher regeneration, wider adaptability and better remediation, Constructed wetland studies across various countries have promising results with mentioned species. Nevertheless plant species successful used as source of secondary and tertiary remediation strategies.

Dear Mr.Sexena,

   There are so many plants can be used as Cr accumulators, such as Phragmites,  Water hyacinth, Duckweed, Water peanut etc. Most of them are usually used in constructed wetland remediation system as Dr Sunil Satyareddi referred. However, it hardly to say which plant is  more suitable , before batch verfication, because of different conditions (.e.g. ionic concentration, nutrient component）.

Many plants have been identified for phytoremediation of micronutrients such as Cr, Cd, Ni As etc. If waste water is used are for irrigation, these plants can be utilised.

You can use a lot of plants but it depends on nutrient contents or other subtances.

I can recomend two south american plants used in two step. First (Eichhornia crassipes) that live floating in the water and capture nutrients in the solution. The second Typha spp. which has roots in the riverbed and let develop a bacteria film around the stalks and are an excelen complement

There are many options but as Oscar Blumetto points out it is important to match the plant(s) to the general physical and chemical characteristics of the water you plan to treat. I attached a recent book that lists some applications based on data in Thailand. The chapter and it's references may help you plan.

It depends on the site of phytoremediation i.e running water or irrigated field...........

It depends on the weather you have.In temperate or hot climates it spreads on surface water very quickly and retains many contaminants. You must collect it from time to time .

And, it depends of industrial wastewater ( class of contaminants)

In my answer lacks the name of the plant, is the so called, "water hyacint". 

In my opinion this type of plant posses high risks because it colonizes water bodies very fast and literally clogged waterways. An extreme situation is in the Mekong delta in Vietnam where numerous waterways are completely clogged with this plant that thrived in contaminated water.

Yes the hyacinth must be retired every few days and disposed as contaminated material.

It depends very much of types of industry that use water, what is the water pH after leaving the factory and many other factors.

first water tests should be done then be seen for treatment.

You could harvest the water hyacinths periodically and use it to process by anaerobic digestion to get methane gas for use as boiler fuel. Of course you have to analyze for the contaminants present in the ind ww you are treating to make sure they are not toxic to bio organisms.

For wetland conditions Canna generalis is a suitable plant for the phytoremediation of industrial waste water.

Vetiver grass has shown high potential for phytoremediation. UNU-INRA research has shown that it is one of the most effective for remediation

Undoubtedly Eichhornia crassipes is the best plant for the treatment of industrial wastewater as suggested by other RG colleagues. Azolla pinnata, Lemna minor, Pistia stratiotes, Salvinia molesta and Vetiveria zizanioides are the other potential plants for industrial wastewater treatment. Eichhornia crassipes is an invasive plant isn't suitable, I think Phragmites austrais is the best plant for your project

Depends on the habitats and conditions. In moist places and in waste waters grow some grasses, like Erioporum polystachion

There are a large number of plants available for this purpose. It depends upon your choice and also availability at your place; my publications might guide you.

Depend on the environmental conditions. Native plants can be very effective, including in saline and sewage areas: Salicornia europaea, Phragmites australis and Calluna vulgaris Also woody plants from Salicaceae family should be used.

You should analysis the waste water first and the conditions of this water to choose floating plants or not

you could select some plants and screen out their potential using the growth traits to check their tolerance, translocation factor, and metal extraction ratio. You can also find many plants from literature and can select after analyzing the type the pollutant you want to remediate

You should analysis the physical and chemical properties of this waste water and know the place of treatment first and then choose the suitable plant grown in the same region and climite

In order to be successful in the treatment of wastewater, a selecting of plants should be implemented first, based on certain parameters including; great natural adaptation to the local environmental conditions; rapid growth and high production of biomass; capability to absorb nutrients; adaptation and ease of propagation; good root development; capacity to pass oxygen to the roots through the formation of an aerobic environment and of course, there is some literature, which could show the selection ways.

I totally depends on you objectives. if it is only to identify a plant capable of tolerating wastewater, you can collect plant from the site as many wild plant grow next to wastewater stream. Further, you have to characterize the wastewater, and based on that you can also chose a plant. Ecotype of plant also play a role metalliferous plant usually find in contaminated site, while their relative plant found in no-contaminated place many not show the same characteristic. I worked with ornamental plants and we choose plants that are commercially available.

I have experimented this plant for the adsorption of heavy metals Fe, Zn, Cu and Mn from aqueous solutions and I observed that it sustains a satisfactory adsorption efficiency and removal capacity for these metals. Since this plant has the ability to grow at high rates in a wide range of environmental conditions, it can be used to wastewater treatment from high (toxic) concentrations of metal ions.
