Can anyone brief me with example about the plane stress, plane strain conditions? I know that in plane stress condition Length and Breath will be more compared to thickness and so brittle will act like ductile in that condition and in Strain condition Length will be more when compared to the remaining and ductile will act as brittle. Can anyone elaborate it a little more and provide some journals and links for detailed understanding?
The basic conditions for plane stress and plane strain are as u have described.We mostly use it for the study of cylinders i.e pressure vessels and the formulation for radial and circumferential stresses. Any basic book on the Theory of Elasticity..or Design of Pressure Vessels will help u clarify on the topic..
