I am trying out the Modified Chlorophyll Absorption in Reflective Index (MCARI) and have been seeing two different formulas. The first is from Pix4d located here: https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000891623-Generate-a-vegetation-index. The second I have found from a few different sources: https://www.indexdatabase.de/db/i-single.php?id=41. I am unsure what the difference is between the two.
pix4D: 1.2 * (2.5 * (NIR - RED) - 1.3 * (NIR - GREEN)) / (normalized to the maximum value of RED, GREEN, and NIR bands)
others: ((700nm−670nm)−0.2(700nm−550nm))(700nm / 670nm)
I'm having the same doubt. Maybe the only way to solve it is trying to recompute MCARI from the single images, for instance by raster calculator in GIS. Another doubt that I have is that is some websites I have seen that high values of the MCARI correspond to low values of clorophyll production and hence higher plant stress. This is the opposite behavior of NDVI for instance. But I am not sure if this is correct.
