I have a compound of small peptides(based on reference paper)and I can detect the peptide concentration.
I don't know about details of it.
I see the very good antimicrobial effect of it and based on several papers it depends of peptide.
We have any method to detect total peptide concentration?
Total peptide concentration can be measured by any of various protein assay methods, such as the Bradford assay, the BCA assay, the Lowry assay, or amino acid analysis. To be accurate, the first 3 methods require a standard of known concentration that has a similar amino acid composition to the sample, which you probably don't have. Amino acid analysis will give you the concentrations of each of the amino acids in the sample (with a few exceptions), but may miss non-canonical amino acids if they are present.
It would be useful to characterize the peptides that are contained in the sample. The peptides can be separated from each other using HPLC or UPLC reverse-phase chromatography, using 214 nm UV absorbance (peptide bond) as a detection method. The sequences of the individual peptides can be obtained by mass spectrometry-based sequencing at a specialist facility. Combining information about the sequence lengths of each peptide with LC peak integration will give you the relative amounts of each peptide in the mixture.
You should use:
-HPLC at 205 to 220 nm.
-LC-MS.
