Greetings

This is a rather silly question, but I got to re-think about peptide bond formation.

Many biochemistry textbook(s) say to make a peptide bond you connect AA1 carboxyl side as COOH with AA2 amino side as NH2. Nevertheless this combination can't exist at any pH! Is this simply wrong or do the ribosomes do some special chemistry?
