I am analyzing HPLC-MS results on the identification of polyphenols. I find on articles the following writing [M-H + Na] is that the binding of the molecule with the Na ion is due to the conditions of analysis or just a proposition since the fragment found at a higher mass with 23g / mol. thank you
I'm sorry, but I'm not understanding your question. [M-H+Na] should be neutral; loss of a proton causes a negative charge. I suspect you mean [M+Na]+ since I also see reference to a species with a mass 23 Da larger. Another possibility is replacement of an acidic proton to form a neutral salt, followed by addition of another proton during the electrospray process. You could try increasing the acid concentration, or using plastic labware.

I've also read (but have no personal experience) that non-volatile ions (such as metal adducts) aren't visible in APCI.
