Hello, I successfully ran a pairwise comparison for all participants comparing test 1 mean scores to test 2 and found significant differences. Can I do the same with an IV? Example one IV is jobs so I want to do the aforementioned comparison between the different jobs police vs teachers vs sanitation, etc . Thank you

Yes you can - you should code your job titles as numbers and use the nominal measure. You can either run a repeated measures ANOVA with jobs as a covariate or take the difference between the test 1 and test 2 scores and run a one-way ANOVA. You should check the assumptions of the tests (and their robust exceptions) first. There is no parametric equivalent for the former one so you would need to take the difference between the test scores if it failed the assumptions and use the Kruskal Wallis test.

You can perform the multiple comparisons among groups, and the choice of the specific test depends on the type of the data ( scale, ordinal ) and the nature of the distribution of data.
