Dear colleagues,

What is the biological reason for ox-LDL to promote cell viability on an MTT assay? Could perhaps the MTT assay be read in a different way?

The MTT assay is used to measure cellular metabolic activity as an indicator of cell viability, proliferation and cytotoxicity. I wonder if all the articles that describe in the Y axis cell viability would be more accurate to say proliferation. I don't think it increases cell viability what it does is to increase cell number which it translates into an increase in total NADPH.
