It is globally believed, that the era of oil and gas is coming to an end with emerging consequences (such as global warming environmental pollution) and growing sight of alternate source of energy. Though, this alternate sources are yet to be proven adequately sustaining, the advocacy for solutions on global warming which is partly the result of oil and gas exploration and production is at the top of current day highlights. Do you think, that decrees in petroleum exploitation could have an advance positive impact on the environment? And how long do you think it will take for petroleum exploitation to stop if it ever will?

I give you an example which directly correlates oil production and climate change.
About 25 years ago the military operation named “Desert Storm” ended on the Arabian Peninsula. On their withdrawal from Kuwait the Iraqi troops set 700 oil wells ablaze. The smoke screen measured 1000 km in length and 400 km in width and could easily be monitored from the spacecrafts of NASA. Man did not only contaminate atmosphere but also polluted by a large oil spill the hydrosphere and biosphere of the Schatt al-Arab. The black clouds were considered as a global thread of the climate. The noble laureate P. Crutzen expressed a stark warning of a reduction of the sun light resembling that of a “nuclear winter”. It did not take very long that he downgraded his fear-mongering and put forward a blunt excuse that scientists did not know very much about soot particles. It took the fire-fighters almost a year to extinct all the burning oil wells

its mostly depends on oil mining price if the price go up like obout 80$ per barrel its not a good option to use oil products in demand side also if the price go down like about 40$ per barrel its not economical for supply side
by the time solar and wind power generation price per KW is going down so fast and if we look realistic, economic matters is more important than environmental one for the goverments and subsidy will help a lot to renewable energies
Now there is a downward trend in oil production in favor of natural gas. Natural gas production will develop more. The reason for this is the demand for gas in the world. Today, all enterprises of Eurasia and the whole world consume the natural gas. There are no alternatives yet. But in the near future will be. This is hydrogen.
Today, there is already a technology for the use of hydrogen in the energy sector. So far mixed with natural gas.
Oil and Gas are not only useful in and of themselves, but are feed stock for additional chemicals. Road paving, fertilizers, reagents all are acquired from hydrocarbons. As such, their use is pretty much set.
I have always thought burning HC for energy was a bit wasteful, but until you get true quick charge for electric cars, trucks, railroad engines, and machines such as harvesters and plows, HC use as fuel will continue, at least in places like Australia and the US where distances are significant. So, will it always be with us? Yes, in one form or another. Also, it is more efficient in heating than electricity.

The authors of "The Color of Oil" (ISBN-13: 978-0967724805) concluded and wrote with bold letters in the book that the world will be run with fossil fuels for at least three centuries. I share this opinion.
Considering that the petroleum reserves, per se besides on available technology, also depend on the oil/gas price and local political environment. Thus, the idea of constantly and rapidly depleting petroleum reserves is far from true. As an example, in 1988 the world's proven oil reserves were roughly 1 trillion barrels, while 30 years later in 2018, this number rose to 1.7 trillion barrels.
The future of oil and gas is not alternative energy sources, but alternative sources of oil and gas, such as hydrocarbon-bearing shales and methane hydrates. Technological advances vis-a-vis petroleum exploration and production will or have opened the door to these resources, which at any condition are much more efficient than any of the classic so-called alternative energy sources (i.e., solar and wind).
Wow Andrew, your explanation says it all. This hydrocarbon family has come to stay in our planet for a very long time. And to add that the reserves are in constant increase is incredible.
