I performed XRD analysis on this sample, but I was not able to identify some of the peaks. We were able to identify Calcite and Periclase, but the other peaks remain unidentified. In addition to Ca and Mg, the chemical analysis also shows that the sample contains Chlorine. I heve uploaded the archives in some formats. Thanks

I had a look at your datas (with EVA software), but without additionals details it will be difficult to help much and give valuable answers. Could you share details regarding synthesis conditions (especially precursors used and synthesis method used), and also regarding your chemical analysis (some elements present in the structure might not be measured, for example light elements in EDX measurements). From quick glance at your datas, I suspect numerous phases (maybe 5), Ca or Mg oxide structures containing H2O seems to explain some of the peaks (if possible from your synthesis conditions). As you have some broad peaks, you also might have various cell parameters for a same structure (from various chemical insertion in the structure). Unfortunately, as a lot of peaks are in the background noise it will be difficult to give valuable conclusions without improved datas (longer XRD measurement). I attached a fullprof plot where you can see the main missing intensities, but I suspect there is at least 2 other phase.

I looked at the recording and I think the remaining peaks belong to ascorbic acid. Was this acid used in the synthesis? There is also an amorphous component, but periclase is probably not present at all.

Dalibor Matýsek , you were very helpfull sr., it is indeed Ascobic acid. However, periclase is also present.
Regarding the synthesis, we do not have that information. We are a materials characterization laboratory, so we end up analyzing samples of various types, from different researchers and industries, and most of the time we do not have much information about them, so we need to rely on the Software EVA search tools to identify the phases ( I don´t know why it was not considering ascorbic acid).
OK. I tried it in Topas too and I had the impression that the model would do quite well without the periclase. The lines of potential periclase and ascorbic acid overlap a lot. But for ascorbic acid I only used Pawley's fitting, without structural data, so I don't know for sure. Maybe this is a failed attempt to synthesize ACC or vaterite?
