Native Gel for Copper Binding Protein Detection?

Hello!

I am interested in trying to detecting whether I have isolated a copper binding protein. I was thinking of running a native gel, then staining with copper so that the protein binds with the ions.

Afterwords I was thinking of using a stain for copper to see if any proteins are present that have binding with the protein.

Does anyone have any suggestions on developing such assays? Has anyone seen this type of assay (or similar assay) before?
