I am working with a colleague from music therapy. We are working on a piece of research that looks at the effects of music upon the later development of resilience. I wondered if anyone has any knowledge in this area they would be willing to share?
Resilient people are those who are in distress , like everyone else, only that their reaction is not equal for everyone , the thing with them is different, stronger and traumatic matter what the difficulties , they excel .
The one that is resilient , even when he loses his job , his friend dies , the wife asks for a divorce , repeats at school, yet he is still there , going strong , he does not let himself topple . And you wonder : " How can this guy ? " . He succeeds because it is resilient .
I do not have experience in this subject and got three articles that might help you

Would any of the music therapy literature regarding coping and rehabilitation be helpful? I'm thinking of hospitalized children or children who have chronic health issues (no articles come to mind immediately). The articles referenced by Nelson are definitely of very high caliber.
You may want to look at the Personal Process Scale-Revised (Johnson, 2002; Worell, 2002; Worell, 2003; Worell & Remer, 2003). For my master's thesis I wanted to measure empowerment for women survivors of domestic violence with a particular form of music therapy--The Bonny Method of Guided Imagery & Music--and I used the PPS-R.
Dear Stephan, thank you for your comments and for pointing me towards your publications. Unfortunately, I do not have a good questionnaire on resilience: this is part of a project I am working on with a grad student.
