I am looking to quantify mucin levels in fecal samples from both humans and mice. There are various kits, but most are either for humans or mice, but not both. They also do not state whether they are compatible with buffers used for DNA/RNA preservation in kits like Genotek.

Does anyone have experience with measuring mucins from fecal samples without using a kit? Ideally this method would work on both human and mouse samples. If you have done mucin detection on human samples collected in Genotek-like kits, that information would be helpful too. Thanks!
