Is there any newer and more efficient or accurate equipment for measuring the Brix and pH of grape berries than a digital refractometer (Brix) and a pH meter (pH)?
Yes there are, but brix with refractometer and pH with pH metro are the most simple and cheap method, and are also perfect for the cellar. If you are I. Laboratory you can use the method Fealing but the reagent are quite expensive. For the brix there are a lot of method for calculate the % of sugar, the most recent and accurate is liquid cromatografy HPCL. If you are interested I can give you same articles
It's just a matter of cost vs benefit. What's the expected accuracy and is it realy neccessary to have this high accuracy ? That's the reason why almost everyone uses (digital) refractometers in the wine-business.
