Hello, my lab created a rat model a few years ago and in my CQE proposal I was instructed to glorify the rat as opposed to the mouse. I know I am going to be grilled on this as most of my committee utilizes mouse models. I have only found a few papers demonstrating differences in receptors for serotonin etc.. as well as they have increased sociability and neurogenesis. Their brain size facilitates a wider array of techniques. Their heart rate and blood pressure more closely resembles the human. I was wondering if anyone knew of any specific anatomical differences within the brain or other physiological/morphological differences. I know rats learn much quicker than mice but I need a valid argument. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
