I don't think it is possible to measure the thickness of solution processed thin films on a paper since the surface of the paper is very rough under a microscope. The surface profile of a paper could also be changed before coating and after coating. Therefore i double that any technique could measure the solution or liquid processed thin film thickness on a paper?

in addition to Xuhuas answer: couldn't you print it on a foil or glass sheet (if the surface energy matches) and do the measurement there? Of course on paper the substrate will influence the ink distribution - but an even surface would helpt to get a first idea about the thickness of your layer.

Dear Sandeep,

an additional approach might be to weight the sample before and after printing (including drying). By knowing the density of the material and the printed area you can calculate a “thickness”.

Measure the thickness of the substrate first. For e.g. if substrate is paper measure the thickness via digital gauge etc. then measure the thickness of deposited ink.
