There is no known medication or therapeutic technique that is able to completely prevent malignancies, oral or otherwise. Anyone who claims that metformin completely prevents Breast cancer is either a misinformed medical lay person, or a quack practitioner.
The first line of diabetes medications has been shown to reduce the risk of breast cancer among its wide range of benefits including cognitive impairment (type 3 diabetes) and low risk of hypoglycemia.
We used metformin and glibenclamide as a standard drug to treat diabetes in our experimental model. Literature reports also show its beneficial effect in brest cancer as it consider antitumor agent. Here i am attaching a link of review to explain the exact story behind your question.. Good luck
Type 2 Diabetes and Insulin resistance is associated with an increased risk of many cancers, including breast cancer
If insulin resistance is part of the main pathogenesis, then using a marker of insulin resistance [ eg HOMA-IR] could give one a risk predictor for these cancers as well as a means of monitoring response to cancer therapy combined with insulin sensitizing therapy
Has anyone done research on relating HOMA-IR to risk of these cancers? Is it a useful predictor of cancer?
Should we be considering insulin sensitizing therapy to one day becoming routine additions to patients with cancer and insulin resistance?
