Messages on R G so annoying because they can not be deleted and their number is increasing every day? What do you think?
My inbox has 6000+messages I do not know whom to ask !! I am assuming that once it exceeds the maximum limit then it will automatically overwrite it with new messages ...
RG is an excellent academic forum to share research methodologies and output, read and interact on other members' work, etc to be enriched personally and help enrich others.
Messages are meant to share these deliverables and hard-earned research output with many RG friends globally.
If we can manage our inbox having lots of emails and also other social media as well, why not so with RG messages?
What if we can't delete them and only see the numbers increase?
I really enjoy RG with all its components along with "messages".

I agree with Ewa Ropelewska , Anastas Ivanov Ivanov and Amit Baran Sharangi.
I can't see that a lot of messages you receive and reply to can lead to the risk of your account being deleted by RG. Because RG constantly asks all users to do something. However, I see a problem in certain extremly simple questions that have already been answered 10,000 times, one is constantly informed about it - with the silent request to continue to participate in this "destruction of our valuable time". It should be much easier to delete threads in order not to be reminded of pointless discussions. Maybe someone has already tried a simple solution and can share it.
I think that RG should transform that communication facility, given more e-mail client like functionalities, including delete old, received messages.
That gives the opportunity to users like Ewa Ropelewska, to read and preserve all received messages, and to users like Boshra Arnout, to read and keep only desired information.
On the other hand, probably it can make more efficient hardware/software management of RG system.
All that is about freedom of choice, and everybody happy.
On the contrary, they are joyful messages from scholarly researchers and I am very happy when I receive more of these messages.
I agree that there is too much shared articles, questions , data, etc.
In my case, most of it is not in my research area.
Very important. Sometimes people spam and share same topic at me for at least 3-4 consecutive times. Not easy read emails through mobile as you have a massive tone of emails with share topics. Like you cant respond to personal emails people are sending as the mail box increases and people share spam its very frequent. i think the team needs to pause personaly each candidate random shares projects as people needs some space in order to answer private massages too...
a large number of notifications concern questions that have been answered out of courtesy and interest, but then it is enough. Unfortunately, you have to take note of them, even if you do not react to them.
Yes dear Boshra A Arnout . There are lots of messages floating, the easiest way would be deleted permanentlY or you can 1 switch to silent the accounts who are sending relentless messages. As a courtesy, I replied every single messages using most of the time “Say thanks “ generic messages but RG was not happy and suspend my account several times. Nowadays I am choosy, not able to respond all messages, sorry..

thanks for the note. I used the "Say thanks" function very rarely, actually only when I didn't want to discuss a question from someone I knew well. RG blocked my account at least once for a short time, also lowered the score, but that was another reason - which I didn't consider fair or justified by the way. But the rules determine the system and there is no legal recourse.

many thanks for the info above. I agree it’s difficult to comprehend fully what’s on going at RG management, seems to be remain a dilemma. That’s why I withdrew myself from the site, hope it would help.

that's best if you don't get angry at all. I agree. On the other hand, I also get angry when I read 60 messages one after the other, and then there is only one or two left that I can or would like to comment on.
Boshra A Arnout .. Dear mam .. I got into an acquaintance with you through Research Gate ..For which I am thankful .. I don't mind the many messages. There could be a friend and a mentor for me to find.
Message exchange is important, but should be limited to important topics.
The large number of messages will generate difficulty in replying to them, or even follow all of them.
I keep reading the messages and recommend publications, but the problem is that there are researchers who repeat sent the same content and messages in large numbers daily. I hope that the researchers send just the new updates and articles, so that the messages do not become annoying.
That is right, need this option upgrade for more flexible ( RG support team ).
