Does anybody know how I can measure inverse pole figure from only 2 pole figures? According to standard technique in our XRD machine we need first 3 pole figures. Unfortunately, my material only shows two diffraction peak so I just have 2 pole figures. How can I have inverse pole figures from 2 pole figures?
What's a material do you have? If you have a material with cubic crystal system, you can analyse the ODF(orientation distribution function) with 2 measured pole figures. After that you can calculate the inverse pole figure for any sample direction.
Hi.....woooooooowww thanks a lot for your response. I almost stopped doing it. Really? Can you please explain more. Yes it is cubic and I have two reflections (110) and (211). You mean with these two pole figures I can have ODF? But when I am doing the test the software asks for 3 pole figures to construct ODF.

You can solve your problem : 1. you can measure 3 PFs. Maybe you fine only 2 peaks with a normal XRD pattern beacuse the developed texture is very sharp. But you can fine (200) reflection between two (110) and (211) peaks, wenn you measure XRD pattrern with tilted sample. Or you can put the 2theta angle for (200) reflection which is calculated or estimated.
2. you need a software to calculate ODF with 2 PFs.
An ODF-analysis Program contains usually a calculation routine of inverse pole figuire.
