The journal article "Endocardially Derived Macrophages Are Essential for Valvular Remodeling" by Shigeta et al. sheds light on other roles of macrophages. Aside from immunity, macrophages also takes part in valvular remodeling by phagocytosing unnecessary extra tissues. Does anyone know of other research that gives information of other roles of macrophages, especially roles on tissue formation.
