Does anyone have more information on journal articles regarding this topic? I have found 3 studies with opposing conclusions.

Ramos et al. (2016) and Singh et al. (2017) both suggest that although there is an initially delay due to icing in the healing process of the muscles, this delay or reduction only occurs in the inflammatory process and does not affect the integrity of the muscle regeneration process.

In the opposing perspective, Takagi et al.(2011) concludes contradicting results that cryotherapy results in delay of muscle regeneration and causes muscle impairment due to the thicker collagen deposits in the regenerated muscle fibers.
