I am carrying out a click reaction using the catalyst systems, CuBr(PPh3)3/ DIPEA and CuSO4.5H20/Na Ascorbate at 45oC . However, I am losing the azide moiety from my substrate carrying it (the azide) in both cases. The reaction has been done at room temp and also under inert conditions. However, the azide moiety is still lost from the substrate carrying it and no evidence of triazole formation is observed after NMR and IR analysis of the product. I was hoping if no triazole is formed then my starting substrate should still be intact but as mentioned earlier the azide moiety is lost from it. Any thoughts on the possible cause of the loss of the azide moiety? Thank you in advance for your thoughts.
