We are considering buying a Light Cycler Nano (Roche), but we'd like to get some opinions from people who have already used it. Have you had any inconvenience, problem, etc? When there's something not working, is it easy to get assistance by the provider/technician? Please share your experience if you've used this equipment, whether it is good or bad, any comments will be highly appreciated.
I have worked with a "big" lightcycler for a while and what I disliked most where two things: Only 32 positions on the rotor and the usage of the glas capillaries for the samples. These are expensive and easy to break if you don't handle them with care. I would prefer machines that can be run with standard PCR plates.
The light cycler nano didn't use capillaries like the really old light cycler. You can use normal pcr stripes.
The only thing i could say, that you should keep in mind, that these cycler has only 32 wells. Which is not much, because you doing normally doublets or triplets. So the amount of samples you can analyze per run is very limited!!!
@Florian: Good to hear. But 32 samples is a real drawback - we run our sample usually in triplicates. Sometimes its even complicated to bring everything on a 96 well plate.
