I am testing the electrochromic properties of PEDOT:PSS films on ITO glass substrates. My voltage window is [-1.5, 1.5] V. During the first CV or CA cycle, the OEDOT:PSS will change colour during the first cycle, but it will not change colour during any subsequent cycle. Even if I restart the CV or CA measurement, it will not change colour. I am using a Platinum counter electrode and a Calomel or Ag/AgCl reference electrode (neither makes a difference with the PEDOT:PSS) in an LITFSI:EMIM TFSI electrolyte. Has anyone ever ran into this issue before or have any insight? The ITO and PEDOT:PSS are not old and just a couple of months old.

In one cycle you change the voltage from -1.5V to 1.5 V. When does the color change, during the positive polarization or the negative polarization.? It ma be that there will be a nonreversible chemical reaction occurring which led to permanent color change. You need to chemically analyze the PEDOT:PSS especially its surface region.
