I guess you have done much of the work, all what is needed for you to do is look for a journal you can publish. Each journal has its own guidelines. So select your journal and follow the guidelines and write a manuscript. You may want to present your findings at a conference as well.

I think most important thing for you is to choose between publication and patent. If you go for patenting it takes a lot of money. Also try to compare the results with some old methods which are widely accepted, because if your results are not comparable or better from stable methods, then the scope of your new method is not broad.

I agree very much with Paul Jones. In addition, you should think and discuss with your co-authors/supervisors on which level the method is new and innovative. If you have found a new analytical principle or the novelty of your method has significant general merit within Analytical Chemistry, then it would be good that you find a journal that deals with analytical chemistry as a scientific discipline rather than a technical area where methods based on established principles are developed, validated and then applied within other scientific areas. In my opinion, the journal “Analytical Chemistry” would be one of the best choices for introducing a new analytical principle or a method of significant general merit within the field of Analytical Chemistry. Publishing in such a journal would be a very good starting point for further developments and additional publications in other journals. It is rather competitive to get work published in this journal. On the other hand they really appreciate fundamentally new developments in analytical chemistry and their review process is excellent (good reviewers, fast). If your method is new and innovative, but based on well-established principles (e.g. SPE with commonly used analytical sorbents) then you should go for a journal of a good scientific level/technical standard/reputation/impact and that has a good connection to the area where your method can be applied.

Well, I call it innovative because it measures multiple analytes in food for which all of the established methods analyze separately, but the methodology is nothing unheard of. I originally worked it up as a cost saving measure, and the more I did research to find comparisons, the more I came to believe that there really aren't any published methods that do what mine does. Could I be wrong, could there be a few matrices out there in which the recovery stinks? Of course, but I'd like other people to run it and see what they think.

In any event (i.e., whatever journal you might choose), as others have noted, carefully read the instructions for authors and also browse a few volumes of the journal to get a sense of the length, rigor, and style of the articles.
