I am trying to make a sand model, which captures liquefaction / post-liquefaction recovery around a structure. We have the laboratory results and measurements, but to use them a model stable at large strain is necessary.
I'm thinking of looking at green-strains, but I've never used them before and the complexity at hand is somewhat overwhelming.
Perhaps you have some Matlab (or other code) examples of some finite elements which are more stable than CST or 8 node rectangle?
Trial and error, starting from scratch, can be rather frustrating. Learning from your real life experience in dealing with large strain in FEM models would be most helpful.
