One of the new students I am working with accidentally added jetprime buffer into a stock vial of DNA plasmid I am using to transfect for patch clamp. Will the jet prime buffer affect the plasmid or my experiments and can I continue to use this stock?
What's in the "jet primer" buffer? If there are surfactants (e.g. SDS), then probably not. If it's just Tris-EDTA or similar, then you can do a clean-up.
You might be able to salvage the plasmid by running it through a column clean-up kit.
It it worth the effort or would it be faster to just redo the plasmid prep?
Or can you just get another stock vial out of the freezer?
If it was me, if you have transformed bacteria in the freezer, just get the student to miniprep some more plasmid. Or better yet, use another vial of the plasmid DNA if you have it (always good to aliquot plasmid DNA you will use often in case of instances such as these).
