I have simulated a simple 50km pipeline with a leakage in the middle of the line.The flow and Pressure quantities are defined. I have used leak component and set the end time of simulation 48 hours. In leak component, I have set the time [10,24]in hour & backpressure [5,15] in kgf/cm2 with diameter of 5 inch in a 56 inch pipe. It is expected to have pressure and flow drop and change in [10,24] hours but the pressure, flow and total mass flow rate quantities immediately reach their steady states and there is no change in these time instants. I need help with this problem. Because I need pressure quantities in specified length of the pipeline when there is a leak. The time when the leak occurs so pressure & flow drops, should be seen in trend plots but I can't find out why this is not happening?!.

Am also working on the same topic, But I can say your problems is from the input pressure at the sending end, the size of the pipe (very narrow), the distance of transmission and the type of product under monitor , because if you pig the pipeline with characterized products you will discover that their time slug at a certain volume at same temperature,pressure and distance varies which gives yield to pipeline de_rating in real practice, hence to solve this problems Run a dynamic model on the pipeline using Olga software for easy of analysis.Thank you .
