I am trying to model a piezoelectric sensor attached to an aluminum thin plate. I know that it is possible to model a PZT using Mechanical APDL, selecting the proper elements, such as PLANE13, Solid5, Solid17.. etc. But I would like to model it in Ansys workbench tool employing Coupled Field Transient. Do you know if it is possible, or do you have other suggestions about this issue?

Yes, you can use Ansys workbench tool as Coupled field. regarding that you can easily find numeroous youtube video. or you can try comsol multyphysics to model the piezoelectric behaviour with coupled field.

The element you mentioned got limited coupled field capability. If you are interested in performing this analysis in Workbench (Mechanical). you need to use Solid226 or Solid227 with proper KEYOPT via command snippets. This way you can make a "Strong Coupling" with the capability of performing transient and steady-state analysis.

By the way, you can use Piezoelectric ACT provided by ANSYS for simulating different kind of sensors as well. This ACT is using Solid226 and Solid227 in the background. I mean if you have no experience with command snippets, then this is going to be a good choice for you.

I know the existence of Piezoeltric ACT, and I have already tried to use it but in my model, I need the Voltage of PZT as output (my piezoelectric is a displacement sensor) and this option is not present in the PZT ACT. Do you know if there is the possibility to add as with command snippets resulting voltage in the solutions?

I'm not sure how you defined your model here, but looks like you just considered mechanical constraint in your boundary conditions. The "Piezoelectric Body" that you inserted from ACT is just for defining the material properties, basically tells software what element with what conditions has to be used for the analysis, therefore, you don't need to define them via command snippets in the "Geometry" section (I mean defining material.). This means that you have not created any degrees of freedom for Voltage in the first place and for that reason you see the Voltage contour is frozen.

What I meant by "in the first place" is the boundary conditions. There is nothing in the boundary conditions to define voltage degree of freedom.
I think you are trying to simulate a energy harvesting.Right?

No, I am trying to simulate an impact sensor formed by an aluminum plate and four piezoelectrics at the base. These should measure the displacement of the plate (oscillations) due to the impact.

Maybe I did not explain properly the situation. I have an impact that generates the oscillation on a plate. These oscillations result in displacements (in three directions) and these displacements should be recorded t the edge of the plate by the piezoelectric sensors, which give back a voltage as output. I have computed the displacements thanks to Autdyn, I would insert them as input in transient analysis, in correspondence with the plate nodes linked to the piezo, and compute the deriving voltage of the piezos.
I will read the documents of ANSYS ATC, thank you for the advice.
